Transport and logistics: half the changed standards are unsettled
A small route with a disproportionate amount of uncertainty in it.
Ten transport and logistics standards carry a recorded change, and five of those are in development or a notice period: Rail Infrastructure Operator at Level 3, Transport Scheduler at Level 3, Removals Operative at Level 2 and Non Home Office Police Officer among them. Aviation Customer Service Operative at Level 2 has a retirement consultation open, which means the standard may not continue at all.
The settled changes matter financially. Urban Driver at Level 2 had its funding band raised from £5,000 to £8,000, a 60% increase reflecting how far below delivery cost it had fallen. Bus, Coach and HGV Service and Maintenance Technician at Level 2 moved to version 2.0 in August 2026 at £14,000 over 24 months, and is awaiting an assessment organisation. Traffic Operator at Level 2 moved to version 1.1.
What it changed from: driver and logistics standards were priced when the sector looked very different, before the driver shortage of the early 2020s reset both wages and training costs.
What follows: the Urban Driver band change makes that programme commercially viable for providers who had stopped offering it. The retirement consultation on Aviation Customer Service Operative is worth responding to if you deliver it, because consultation is the only point at which the outcome can be influenced. And given five standards are mid-revision, this is a route where checking the register at each intake genuinely matters.
